TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

284-970
Hi Adhesion Outside Tire Paint

This product is a formulated coating intended to be applied to only the uncured sidewall of a tire prior to vulcanization.  Its main feature is its ability to prove superior adhesion of rubber to rubber at splice junctions while maintaining air bleed.

284-970 Features:

    1.    Does not interfere with rubber-rubber adhesion at splice areas.
    2.    No transfer of carbon after the coating is dry.
    3.    Promotes air bleed and minimizes "lights".
    4.    Reduces friction during the shaping cycle to allow for uniform rubber
           flow.
    5.    Reduces mold fouling.
    6.    Sprays and wets the rubber surface exceptionally sell.
    7.    Contains 0.00% VOCs

Typical Physical Properties:

Appearance Black liquid
Odor Slightly ammoniacal
% Nonvolatile 20 +/- 1%
Viscosity 900 - 2000 cps*
pH 9.8 - 10.3

*Brookfield LVT #3 spindle @ 30 rpm.  Read at 2 minutes.

No separation of ingredients has been noted during storage or agitation; however, we recommend brief agitation prior to use as a good plant practice.  Continuous agitation will introduce foam if the liquid level is not maintained well above the agitator blade.

Prior to drying, clean-up may be with water.  After drying, water and detergent or solvents must be used.

This material should not be allowed to freeze.  Inside storage is recommended.  Temperature extremes should be avoided; ambient temperatures should be between 40º F and 90º F.

Application rates should be adjusted to allow between 4-8mg/in² dry.  This application rate is a recommended starting point and will probably require fine tuning based on tire type.

No special spray equipment or procedure should be required.
